Suez Canal Accident

The Panamanian ship Chang Ci, owned by Taiwan’s Evergreen Group, ran aground in the Suez Canal on March 24. The ship, 400 meters long, nearly 60 meters wide and with a volume of 220,000 tons, came to a stop almost completely on its side, cutting off one of the most important shipping lanes between Europe and Asia

According to statistics, in 2020, on average, 50 cargo ships will pass through the Suez Canal every day, accounting for 12% of the global maritime logistics, and it is well deserved as an important maritime logistics hub.

Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabieh said in a statement April 6 local time, the Suez Canal is now open to traffic conditions. On that day, 84 ships crossed the Suez Canal, with a total net tonnage of 5.3 million tons.
